    Colours

    White-transparent.

TopLasur NQG is tintable to a max. of 20 % with AmphiSilan colourants. If more than one bucket is manually tinted, all product must be thoroughly mixed before use in order to avoid colour differences.
TopLasur NQG is tintable via the ColorExpress tinting & mixing machine system. Check tinted product before applying to avoid colour differences. Always use tinted product of same batch, when applying on seamless surfaces. Colour shade and transparency of the fully dried glazing paint are best established by coating a test area on site.
TopLasur NQG is tinted with non-fading (at best) inorganic pigments. Thus, in combination with non-chalking nano-quartz matrix hybrid binder, the technologically best possible colour stability is obtained.

    Suitable Substrates

The substrate must be sound/stable, dry, clean, and free from all substances that may prevent good adhesion. In Germany: Follow VOB, part C, DIN 18363, section 3.

    Substrate Preparation

New and Existing, Sound/Stable ETICS/EWI Systems with Surfaces of Synthetic Resin-Bound (Organic) Render/Plaster, Silicone Render/Plaster, Lime-Cement Plaster (PII) / Minimum Compressive Strength according to DIN EN 998-1: 1.5 N/mm2:
Clean existing renders/plasters by suitable wet cleaning method. Maximum temperature for high-pressure water jet: 60 °C. Pressure: max. 60 bar. Allow to dry thoroughly. Coat according to the type of finish render and details as mentioned below.

Renders/Plasters in Mortar Groups/Classes PII (Lime-Cement Mortars), PIII (Cement Mortars) / Minimum Compressive Strength according to DIN EN 998-1: 1.5 N/mm2:
New renders/plasters must be left untreated for a sufficiently long holding time, normally for 2 weeks at 20 °C and 65 % relative humidity. Adverse weather conditions, e.g. influenced by wind or rain, extend the curing process and correspondingly longer holding times must be respected. The risk of calcareous efflorescence on alkaline finish renders of mortar classes PII and PIII can be minimised by an additional priming coat of CapaGrund Universal and the finishing render/plaster may be coated after a holding time of 7 days.
Existing renders/plasters: Allow repair patches to cure and dry thoroughly. Highly porous, absorbent, slightly sanding surfaces: Apply one priming coat of OptiGrund.
Strongly sanding, chalking surfaces: Prime with Dupa-grund or use AmphiSilan-Putzfestiger for ETICS/EWI systems with EPS boards/panels.

New Silicate Finish Renders: Coat with Histolith® Antik Lasur.

Existing Coatings of Silicate Paint and Render/Plaster: Clean adherent, stable coatings mechanically or with high-pressure cleaner (water jet), in compliance with the regulations. Remove unstable, weathered coatings by abrading, sanding/grinding or scraping off. Apply one priming coat of AmphiSilan-Putzfestiger.

Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (AAC) / Cellular Concrete with Stable Existing Coating: Clean sound/stable existing surfaces. Apply one priming coat of CapaGrund Universal. Use suitable products of our Disbon program for the renovation of unsound coatings.

Concrete: Clean concrete surfaces with deposits of dirt or fines by mechanical means or with high-pressure cleaner, in compliance with the regulations. Apply one priming coat of CapaGrund Universal on slightly absorbent or smooth surfaces. Apply one priming coat of OptiGrund on highly porous, slightly sanding or absorbent surfaces. Prime chalking surfaces with Dupa-grund.

Cement Bonded Wood Chipboards  / Particle Boards: Apply one priming coat of Disbon 481 EP-Uniprimer to avoid efflorescence, due to the high alkalinity of cement bonded wood chipboards.

Facing Brickwork: Only absorbent bricks or clinkers of frost resistant quality and free of impurities are suitable for being coated. Masonry must be dry and free of salts/salty efflorescence, jointing must be free of cracks. Apply one priming coat of Dupa-grund. If brown discolouration appears on the intermediate coat, then recoat with solvent-based facade paint Duparol.

Sound/Stable Coatings of Emulsion or Silicone Paint: Clean soiled, chalking coatings by high-pressure cleaner, in compliance with the regulations. Apply one priming coat of CapaGrund Universal. If other cleaning methods are used (washing, wire brushing, hosing with water), prime with Dupa-grund or use AmphiSilan-Putzfestiger for EPS insulation boards.

Stable Coatings of Synthetic Resin-Bound (Organic) or Silicone Render/Plaster: Clean existing coatings by suitable means. Allow wet cleaned substrates to dry thoroughly before any further treatment.

Unstable Mineral Paint Coatings: Remove completely (abrade, brush off, scrape off, use high-pressure cleaner in compliance with the regulations, or by other suitable means). Allow wet cleaned substrates to dry thoroughly before any further treatment. Prime with Dupa-grund.

Unstable Coatings of Emulsion or Silicone Paint, Silicone or Synthetic Resin-Bound (Organic) Render/Plaster: Remove completely by suitable means, e.g. mechanically or by stripping and subsequent cleaning using high-pressure cleaner, in compliance with the regulations. Apply one priming coat of CapaGrund Universal on slightly absorbent or smooth surfaces. Prime chalking, sanding, absorbent surfaces with Dupa-grund.

Surfaces Contaminated with Factory Fumes or Soot: Coat with the solvent-based facade paint Duparol.

Cracks in Concrete or Render/Plaster Surfaces: Coat with PermaSilan NQG or Cap-elast.

Treatment of Natural Stones: Natural stones must be solid, dry and free of efflorescence. Weathered stone surfaces are to be adequately strengthened by repeated treatment with silicic acid ester before a coating is applied. Clean soiled stones with a high-pressure cleaner, in compliance with the regulations.
Do not use render mortar for repairs, but apply suitable stone substitute material. Allow repairs to set, then treat properly with Histolith® Fluat (fluosilicate) and rinse with tap (potable) water.

Rising Damp/Moisture: Rising damp will cause a prematurely deterioration of coatings. Only cross-sectional insulation can be considered to achieve a reliable, durable remedy. Alternatively the application of Histolith® Sanierputz-System (restorative render/plaster system) is a long-lasting and successful solution. Especially for old buildings it is advantageous to create "drying zones", i.e. zones facilitating the evaporation of moisture by providing a filter stratum of filler gravels between the plinth masonry and the soil.

Surfaces with Salty Efflorescence: Remove salty efflorescence by dry wire brushing. Prime with Dupa-grund. Coating of such surfaces must be considered a risk for which we cannot accept responsibility, since even after the most thorough treatment the efflorescence may recur.

Defects: Repair small defects with fine filler Caparol Fassaden-Feinspachtel, deeper defects up to
20 mm preferably with Histolith Renovierspachtel and prime repairs subsequently.

    Interior Surfaces:

Plasters in Mortar Groups/Classes PII (Lime-Cement) and PIII (Cement Mortars) / Minimum Compressive Strength according to DIN EN 998-1: 1.5 N/mm2: Solid, normally absorbent plasters require no preliminary treatment. Prime highly porous, sanding or absorbent plasters with OptiGrund or CapaSol.

Gypsum Plasters in Mortar Group/Class PIV (Gypsum Mortar and Ready-Mixed Gypsum Plaster) / Minimum Compressive Strength according to DIN EN 13279 S2: 2 N/mm2: Prime with Caparol-Haftgrund. Sand sintered skin and remove all sanding dust. Prime with Caparol-Tiefgrund TB.

Gypsum Wallboards: Prime absorbent boards with OptiGrund or Caparol-Tiefgrund TB. Prime highly compacted, smooth boards with Caparol-Haftgrund to enhance bonding.

Gypsum Plaster Boards (Sandwich-Type Plaster Boards/Drywalls): Sand/grind off filling burrs. Prime and strengthen soft areas (repair patches) with Caparol-Tiefgrund TB. Prime with Caparol-Haftgrund, OptiGrund or CapaSol. Boards containing water-soluble, discolouring substances that leave marks must be primed with Caparol AquaSperrgrund. Germany: Follow BFS Data Sheet No. 12.

Concrete: Remove residues of releasing agent (formwork oil residues) and chalking or sanding substances.

Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (AAC) / Cellular Concrete: Prime with a 1 : 3 mixture of Capaplex and tap (potable) water.

Facing Brickwork and Fair-Faced Sand-Lime Brick Masonry: Coat without pre-treatment.

Stable Existing Coatings: Coat matt, slightly absorbent coatings without pre-treatment. Roughen/sand glossy surfaces and enamel coatings. Prime with Caparol-Haftgrund.

Unstable Existing Coatings: Remove unstable coatings of enamel, emulsion paint or synthetic (organic) plaster. Prime slightly absorbent, smooth surfaces with Caparol-Haftgrund. Prime highly porous, sanding or absorbent substrates with OptiGrund or CapaSol. Remove unstable coats of mineral paint by mechanical means and remove all sanding dust. Prime with Caparol-Tiefgrund TB.

Glue-Bound Distemper (Limewater Colour/Paint): Completely wash off and prime with Caparol-Tiefgrund TB.

Unpainted Woodchip/Ingrain, Relief or Embossed Wallpapers (Made of Paper): Coat without pre-treatment.

Non-Adherent Wallpapers: Remove the wallpapers completely and wash off all residues of glue and waste paper. Prime the substrate with Caparol-Tiefgrund TB.

Mildewed/Mouldy Surfaces: Remove fungal attack (fungi/mildew/mould) by wet cleaning, then use Capatox or FungiGrund and allow to dry thoroughly. Prime according to the type and condition of the substrate. Apply a finishing coat of Indeko-W, Malerit-W or Fungitex-W on heavily mould affected surfaces in compliance with legal/local and official regulations (follow for e.g. Ordinance of Biocidal Agents and Ordinance on Hazardous Substances).Surfaces Stained by Nicotine, Water, Soot or Fat/Grease: Remove nicotine, soot or fat/grease stains by washing with tap water adding a fat-dissolving household detergent, then allow the substrate to dry thoroughly. Clean dried-up water stains with a dry scrubbing brush. Apply one insulating prime coat of Caparol AquaSperrgrund. Apply one finishing coat of Aqua-inn № 1 on strongly soiled surfaces.

Wood and Derived Timber Products: Coat with ecologically compatible, water-dilutable/waterborne Capacryl acrylic enamels or Capacryl PU enamels.
Small Defects: After having completed the necessary preparations, repair small defects with filler Caparol-Akkordspachtel in accordance with our processing specification, and if necessary, prime subsequently.

    Method of Application

Apply with paint brushes (do not use brand-new brushes), stippling brushes, natural sponges or clothes, depending on the desired effect.

    Surface Coating System

Apply one intermediate coat of Sylitol® Minera, Sylitol® Compact, AmphiSilan-Compact or MultiStruktur (only for interior walls), textured by paint brush, in white or tinted (bright-toned) to match the following coat of glazing paint in shade. Textured renders/plasters are also suitable for intermediate coat. Smooth surfaces cannot be treated without visible lapping.
Apply 1 to 3 finishing coats of glazing paint TopLasur NQG (depending on the desired translucent effect), tinted in the desired colour shade. Transparency is adjustable by diluting to a max. of 30 % with tap (potable) water. Depending on the desired effect, glaze coats can be applied wet-on-wet or after intermediate drying. Coat seamless surfaces wet-on-wet and in one go to avoid lapping.

    Consumption

100 - 150 ml/m2 per coat. On absorbent and roughly textured surfaces correspondingly more. Consumption is only a guide value. Determine the exact amount of material required by coating a test area on site.

    Application Conditions

Low Temperature Limit for Application and Drying:
+8 ° C for product, substrate and ambient air.

    Drying/Drying Time

Min. 12 hours between coats. Lower temperatures and higher humidity extend the drying time. Provide for proper ventilation of interior rooms after the application.

    Tool Cleaning

Immediately after use with water, add detergent, if necessary. During breaks keep tools dipped in paint or water.

    Note

Do not apply on sun heated substrates, during strong wind, fog or rain, high relative humidity or imminent rain and frost. Use scaffolding-nets, if necessary. Beware of night-frost. Do not apply on horizontal surfaces exposed to rain/water or moisture.
When using Caparol-Tiefgrund TB in interiors, a typical solvent odour is released, hence proper ventilation must be provided during application and drying. Use non-aromatic, low-odour AmphiSilan-Putzfestiger in sensitive areas.

Facades in special climatic conditions (high degree of moisture) or subjected to a higher influence of atmospheric exposure: It is recommended to apply our special products, e.g. ThermoSan, Amphibolin-W or Duparol-W. These products contain a preservative against deterioration in the coating film delaying the forming of organic growth (fungi & algae).

Mechanical loads/scratching on matt facade paints in dark shades may produce bright-toned stripes as a product specific property (no writing resistance).
In case of moist weather conditions (rain, dew, fog) yellowish transparent traces of additives, showing a slightly glossy shine and stickiness, may occur on the surface of compact, cool substrates or by means of delayed drying caused by the weather. The traces of additives are water-soluble and will disappear under the influence of a sufficient water quantity, e.g. repeated intensive rainfalls. The quality of the dried coating will not be affected by these changes. In case of direct reworking, all traces of additives must be pre-wetted and completely removed after a short reaction time. An additional priming coat of CapaGrund Universal must be applied. The traces cannot occur when the product is applied under suitable climatic conditions.

Touching up: The surfaces of semi-transparent glazing paint coats cannot be touched up.

Compatibility with other Coating Materials: Do not mix TopLasur NQG with other products to retain the specific properties.

Protective Measures: Projecting or overhanging structural elements, such as cornices, masonry wall crowns, window sills, etc., must be properly masked to prevent the formation of dirt markings and penetration of rain into the masonry.
