Suitable Substrates

Suitable for old and new masonry.

Preparatory work

Mask window sills and add-on parts.
Carefully cover glass, ceramic, clinker, natural stone, painted, glazed and anodised surfaces.

Substrate Preparation

The substrate must be firm, load-bearing, frost-free and free of adhesion-reducing substances. Base coats must be well set and roughened. Clean the substrate thoroughly. Pre-wet absorbent substrates (matt damp). Apply a half-covering coat of Histolith® Trass-Vorspritzputz and allow to harden until lightly dry.

VOB Part C, DIN 18350 must be observed.

Preparation of Material

  • 30 kg of material (one bag) in approx. 6.5 litres of water.

The material can be mixed with a powerful, slow-running agitator or compulsory mixer with
mixer and with clean, cold water to form a lump-free mass.
Work through again after approx. 3-5 minutes. If necessary, adjust the consistency with a little water after this maturing time.

Depending on the weather, the working time is approx. 2 hours (pot life).
Do not use water to make material that has already hardened workable again.

Method of Application

Apply the material to the prepared substrate to a thickness of 15-20 mm, roughen the surface after application. After sufficient drying time, a second layer of render can be applied using the same material.

If a felted surface is to be created, Histolith® Feinputz or Histolith® Renovierspachtel can be applied and felted after sufficient drying time.

Layer Thickness

Outside: 15-20 mm
Inside: 10-15 mm
Two-layer application: up to 40 mm

Surface Coating System

On exterior surfaces a finishing coat with highly water vapour permeable paint is essential.
Therefore Histolith® Dispersionssilikatfarben (emulsion silicate paints) and Histolith® Kalkfarben (lime paints) are recommended.

Consumption

  • approx. 1.4 kg/m2 per mm layer thickness

These consumption figures are approximate values.
Deviations depending on the property or processing must be taken into account.

Application Conditions

During the application and curing phase, the ambient and substrate temperatures must not be
substrate temperatures must not be below +5 °C and above +30 °C. Do not apply under direct
Do not apply in direct sunlight, strong wind, fog or high humidity.
Please refer to the leaflet "Rendering, thermal insulation, levelling, coating at high and low
temperatures" from the the Bundesverband Ausbau und Fassade.

In unfavourable weather conditions, suitable measures must be taken to protect the facade surfaces.

Drying/Drying Time

The waiting time for reworking depends on temperature, humidity, air movement, sunlight and
application thickness. The information is therefore intended as a guide.

Waiting time:

  • Standard value 1 day per mm layer thickness

During the drying period, the treated surfaces must be protected from drying out quickly.

Tool Cleaning

Rinse with water immediately after use, observing the legal requirements.

Special Risks (Hazard Note) / Safety Advice (Status as at Date of Publication)
