Histolith Trass-Vorspritzputz

Restoration render/plaster system according to WTA
with Suevit-Trass.
LV Texte

Field of Application

Histolith® Trass-Sanierputzsystem (restoration render/plaster system) is suitable to render masonry with moisture content and polluted with salts. For exterior and interior use. Due to the great pore volume the deteriorating salts are bound, thus a dry surface, free from efflorescence, is achievable on moist masonry, when ambient weather conditions allow to fully dry.

Application Limits:
The Histolith® Trass-Sanierputzsystem is unsuitable for sealing structural elements against pressurised
water, backwater and soil moisture/ground humidity. In such cases sealing has to be completed before
by suitable means. This applies also for very strong humidity penetration caused by rising damp. In the
area of plinths (base area) direct contact with soil or covering must be avoided.

The Histolith® Trass-Sanierputzsystem cannot prevent damages caused by condensation water.

System Components:

  • Histolith® Trass-Vorspritzputz:
Adhesion promoting base render/spray plaster on masonry (adhesive bridge)
  • Histolith® Trass-Porengrundputz:
Base render/salt accumulating restoration plaster, levelling render for highly uneven masonry
  • Histolith® Trass-Sanierputz:
Restoration render/plaster to obtain dry surfaces
  • Histolith® Feinputz:
Fine filler/surfacer to obtain feltable surfaces

System Structure:
Structure and layer thicknes of the Histolith® Trass restoration render system comply with the salt
content of masonry.

Histolith® Feinputz can additionally be applied on both systems.
Histolith® Trass-Porengrundputz should always be applied as base render to level unevenness in the
masonry, when the total thickness of render/plaster coating is over 30 mm.

Salt Content:
The salt content of substrates is defined within WTA Data Sheet 2-9-04/D.

Material Properties

The Histolith® Trass-Sanierputzsystem contains mineral binders according to DIN EN 197-1 (cement,
Suevit-Trass) and DIN EN 459-1 (lime) and mineral ingredients according to DIN EN 13139.
The system meets the requirements of WTA-Merkblatt / Data Sheet 2-9-04/D.

Suitable Substrates

The Histolith® Trass-Sanierputzsystem (restoration render/plaster system) is suitable for masonry/
brickwork according to German standard DIN 1053.

Substrate Preparation

Carefully remove all defective rendering for minimum 80 cm beyond the noticeable border area of
damages. Scrape out defective joints in masonry minimum 20 mm deep. Carefully clean the masonry.
Pre-wet highly absorbent masonry (matt moist surface appearance).

Histolith® Trass-Vorspritzputz: Mix the product by hand.

Histolith® Trass-Porengrundputz and Histolith® Trass-Sanierputz:
Mix the products by hand or use suitable plaster mixing machine. For manual mixing, stir carefully with
a mixing paddle (160 mm cage) to ensure a lump-free mixture, then leave to stand for approx. 5
minutes and stir the mortar once again. Adjust the application consistency with tap water, if necessary.

Histolith® Feinputz:
Mix the product by hand or use suitable plaster mixing machine. For manual mixing, stir carefully with
a mixing paddle (160 mm cage) to ensure a lump-free mixture.

Method of Application

Application  of Product:

Histolith® Trass-Vorspritzputz: Punctual roughcast lorication/trowel application of mixed product in approx. 1-2 grain sizes, with approx. 50 % coverage of the masonry to be coated (only reticular, half-covering coat). Do not fill the joints with roughcast.

Histolith® Trass-Porengrundputz: Apply mixed product by hand or machine. Fill all joints in masonry, then level the full surface with an aluminium straight edge. Cog/roughen the freshly applied surface horizontally with a notched trowel or suitable metal comb. Alternatively allow the surface to stiffen slightly, then roughen with a lattice float, but do not compress or felt.

Histolith® Trass-Sanierputz: Apply mixed product by hand or machine and level the full surface with an aluminium straight edge. Allow the surface to stiffen slightly, then roughen with a lattice float, but do not compress or felt.

Histolith® Feinputz: Apply mixed product evenly and without lapping by trowel and felt the slightly stiffened surface.

Surface Coating System

Only highly water vapour permeable products are suitable for further coating.
Apply preferably Histolith®/Sylitol Dispersionssilikatfarben (emulsion silicate paints), AmphiSilan/
ThermoSan Siliconharzfarbe (silicone resin paint) or use Histolith® Kalkfarbe (lime paint) in the
interiors. Preliminary fluate the surface with Histolith® Fluat, when tinted products are to be applied.

Application Conditions

Lower Temperature Limit for Application and Drying:
> +5 °C for product, substrate and ambient air. The products should not be applied in direct sunlight or on sun heated substrates, during strong wind, fog or rain, high relative humidity or imminent rain or frost, etc. or protect the surfaces by suitable means.

Drying/Drying Time

Protect coated surfaces from premature drying during the setting process. Provide for corresponding fast drying by ventilation or dehumidification, when applied in the interiors.
Follow the drying times as mentioned below, before applying the subsequent render/plaster coat:

Histolith® Trass-Vorspritzputz: Minimum 1 day, when a bright surface appearance is achieved.

Histolith® Trass-Porengrundputz: 1 day per 1 mm of layer thickness.Histolith® Trass-Sanierputz:
- When Histolith® Trass-Sanierputz is applied in two layers, allow the first layer to dry for min. 1 day,
max. 4 days; allow the second layer to dry for min. 3 days, max. 7 days.
- One coat application on Histolith® Trass-Porengrundputz: Allow to dry for min. 3 days, max. 7 days.

Histolith® Feinputz: Coat of paint is applicable after 7 days.

Tool Cleaning

Clean tools/equipment immediately after use with water.

Note

Advice for Machine Application of Histolith® Trass-Porengrundputz and
Histolith® Trass-Sanierputz:
All current plastering machines are suitable (e.g. m-tec, PFT G4). Connect a secondary mixer in order
to generate the necessary volume of pores.
Tube length: max. 25 m
Diameter of tube: min. 25 mm
Always start with mortar tube NW 35 at the delivery tube connector.

Special Risks (Hazard Note) / Safety Advice (Status as at Date of Publication)

Please Note (Status as at Date of Publication)

In Germany: Follow DIN 18 550, VOB part C DIN 18 350 and WTA-Merkblatt/Data Sheet 2-9-04/D.
Do not apply hermetically sealed/impermeable coverings like tiles, insulating wallpapers, etc. on
the Histolith® Sanierputzsystem.

Always apply a finishing coat of paint, when Histolith® Feinputz is used on exterior substrates.
Do not use Histolith® Feinputz as plinth render in the area of wall bases.
When a felted surface has to be generated in the plinth/wall base area, then Histolith®
Renovierspachtel may alternatively be applied as finishing render.

Disposal

Materials and all related packaging must be disposed of in a safe way in accordance with the full requirements of the local authority. Particular attention should be made to removing wastage from site in compliance with standard construction site procedures.
In Germany: Bags must be completely empty for recycling. Dispose hardened residues of product as mixed construction site and demolition waste.
